Unhappy MIDI to Audio question

Hello, everyone. I'm new here, and looking forward to hearing any tips or suggestions.

Here's what I do:
Record X number of MIDI trax in Cakewalk HS2002XL
Mix and pan the trax to perfection
SOLO all my MIDI trax to record audio onto a new stereo audio track.

...And here's what happens:
The new stereo track defaults everything to Pan Center, so my audio track sounds muddled and clashes with vocals, live instruments, etc.

Obviously, converting each MIDI track individually would take care of this, but I'm trying to conserve CPU power for BGV's, live instruments, etc. Am I trying to do the impossible?

Thanks!

Hmmm... it shouldn't do that.

What MIDI and audio equipment do you have? Soundcard?

I use a MidiSport 4X4 which I control my modules with. My soundcard is the M-Audio Audiophile 2496, which sounds great.

I route stereo from my Roland module into a 5/6 or 7/8 channel on my mixer, send the signal back out to Cakewalk and mix it again in Cakewalk. I have a Behringer MX802A, so I actually have to use my Aux sends l/r as the signal that goes to my computer.

Would I benefit from routing two mono cables to one of the 1-4 tracks instead of using the 5/6 or 7/8?

Are you sure that the aux sends are stereo?

Sometimes the aux sends are mono, and the returns are stereo.
