Boss BR-864 16 bit or 24 bit recording??

Hey all......just out of curiosity, does anyone know if the br-864 records in 16 or 24 bits? I checked on the website and all the specs say is that it record in 44.1 khz but doesnt give bits. It gives the bits for the other two multitracks in the BR series but not the 864 thanks.

It has 24 bit preamps and records at 16 bits.

thanks...so that'll kinda be like recording in 24 bit mode on PC and dowsizing it to 16 for cd burn right?

I don't know why the various companies don't all go to 24 bits. I guess it's their last holdout until everything switches to solid state, just so's they can milk each incarnation for all they can get out of the unknowing public.
