Any of these kits will work. There really isn't too much to one of these things. The V-drums are the super whiz bang ones, but for just playing around, this will do just fine. The DM5 has plenty of good sounds in it.

yeah i heard the Dm5 has some nice sounds in there. i was just a bit hesitant cause i read somewhere that there can be problems with triggering on them. Im not a drummer by proffesion but i drum pretty well, hard and fast and im just hopeing it wont fall over on me mid jam or something

Hitting electronic drums hard will do you more harm than the triggers. You will develop 'tennis elbow' if you smack these things too hard.

thats why im looking for mesh heads, as theres more give and bounce in em than the rubber ones.

Thumbs up Electronic Drums

For a beginer you should pick a set that will offer you the most bang for your buck. I am opening a new eletronic drum only store in CA this week and the newest and best for entry is the Pintech Edrums. All mesh heads even the kick module plays songs that you can play along to and even plug in a cd player to play with. Best thing is I can get you playing one foo around $800 complete, retails for around $1200. Email me for more info.
