drum samples into cubase vst 24

Hello there,

My set up:

Cubase VST 24

Omni I/O Studio

Delta 66 Sound Card

I've got the audio recording going on no problem (gutars, base etc).

However, I have downloaded drum samples in 'Wav' and 'MP3' onto my desktop.

I cannot route these into cubase. I have tried 'Import Audio File' and the 'Audio Pool' but with no luck.

Possibly I'm barking up the wrong tree completley. Any ideas would be greatly appriecieted.

You need to add a track, import file, it should pop up on the selected track.

Blues, assuming your drum .wav is the same sample rate as your project, you need to right click and add an audio track like Farview said, make sure it is stereo not mono. You might want to give more info on what exactly you are doing ( step by step ). I know I had enough troubles when I first got started.

Thanks for that I'll look into it when I get in tonight.

However, just to let you know...

I have heard of the 'sample rate' before as we came across it when initially setting up.... but I cant remember where it is.

Could you point me in the right direction?

In addition, how do I find out the 'sample rate' of the wav. drum sample? (If this is not possible I presume I just play trial and error with the sampling rate in Cubase).

As far as 'a step by step' of what I'm doing. I presume you mean specific to downloading the drum sample or possibly my tunes in general - either way I'll give ya a breakdown later on as I'm stuck at work at the minute.

Go to edit->project setup -> you will set the sample rate in there. The manual explains all this quite clearly.

Farview has the path right, but I figured out by accident that cubase will play .wav's with diff sample rates with no problem, (they all play real time, regardless of sample rate) Here's how I know: client came in with a karaoke disc, I ripped it and dropped in the stereo tracks, then set up vocal mic like I always do at 24bit/48k, exported mixdown with no probs even though karaoke files were 16bit/44.1k.
I'm thinkin Blues Dad, when you have a project open in Cubase, right click in the tracks section, add audio track, select stereo, highlight the new track, >file>import>audio file, and you should be golden. By the way, mp3's will work, just don't use them, you don't want to open a second can of worms.

Blues- let us know when you have a mix up and ready!
I used to have the same problem with beer, it would be calling and mess up a vocal track, then I got a fridge for the garage (next to studio) and keep it in there, it doesn't call so loud anymore, I'm thinking of putting studio foam inside the fridge to further deaden the beer noise!
