Crash Noise

Hey can anyone help me,

Im pretty new at recording drumms, and just wondering, is it the mics or the soundcard, that causes that crashing/drowning noise whe ever i record a symbol

and possible ways to fix this problem?

If you could post a sound clip it would be more helpful. It could be a placement issue, mic choice, or a phase problem.

what types of mics are you using? Where are you placing them?
