Odd (possibly stupid) question

Sorry, wasn't sure which forum to put this in.

In studios with large consoles is it common for the chairs behind the desk to be on tracks or runners? I guess it would allow the engineer to move from one section to another without moving away from the desk.

Anyone ever seen or heard of this.

(I'm not considering it for my tapco 6306 btw )

Never seen it. But if you're smart you'll spend at least 300 bucks on your studio chair. I think mine cost 600 bucks and is very comfy, and can roll really, really fast.

The Herman Miller chairs are the closest thing to a pro studio standard:

Not cheap by any means.

Actually I knicked it from a company I used to work at when they shut down one of their facilities, they had a bunch of furniture they didn't know what to do with so I asked if I could grab one. After I did that a bunch of people followed my lead.
