Angry Cubase problem with Motu 2408 PCI 424

I just purchased a MOTU 2408 with the PCI 424 card and am running it on a 3 gighz AMD processor, Gigabyte board, 2gig ram,250gigHD,etc...

I downloaded the latest drivers from Motu and used them for the install. When I try to run Cubase now, it crashes at the point where it is loading VST stuff. I also can not run the ASIO config stuff because it crashes!

I completly removed the Motu PCI 424 board and removed all evidance of it in the registry and then Cubase works fine! Reload the drivers and it stops working again.

Any ideas???

oh, I am running Windows XP PRO

I've seen this before but it was so long ago I can't remember if this is the exact answer but give it a try... You probably have a VST that doesn't like your new Software/Hardware. Take all your VSTs out of the VST folder and move them temporarily to another folder and see if Cubase loads then. Then just move several (3rd party) VSTs back into the folder one at a time until you find the offending VST.

Again, it's been a long time but if memory serves me right this is your problem.
