Goin' mobile with a Trak2
Hey guys, I just won the Trak2 in Apogee giveaway. Yeehaw!
I want to go mobile with it as I'm sick of lugging my !@#$ G4 around. The thing comes with about every digital out posssible on it (lightpipe,spdif,FW400) so what I was thinking is something like the Alesis Masterlink. I don't need all that DSP, and was wondering what other simple, reliable solutions are out there. Just totally basic, no analog ins/2 channel hard disk recorder. Is there such a thing? Thanks for the input. ![]() |

Congratulations
The Alesis Masterlink will work and so will the older Tascam CD-RW700 or newer Tascam CD-RW750 but they don't have all the features that the Masterlink has... but they are nice units. There are external hard drives on the market, but I don't know of any stand alone hard drives that will work without a computer. |

Thanks DJL!
I'm also thinking maybe AMD laptop with a FW in running Linux. Never recorded via a FW interface so I need to figure out what softwares will do that. Otherwise I think Masterlink may be the way to go. I'm kind of keen to get away from a computer for location recording. |

You may want to ask the folks on the Computer Recording and Soundcards forum http://www.homerecording.com/bbs/forumdisplay.php?f=14 and find out what they recommend. Best wishes... and have fun.
