Wink

Well, this IS the minidisk forum, so I think all opinions are going to be a bit bias...
Actually, this DPSwhatevermajig seems like a slick piece 'o pie.

Of course, it has 12 tracks (8 simultaneous record), which is nice, but it seems to lack inputs and stuff. I only could see 6 inputs -no XLR's (???). Also, don't be fooled by the low price, because the effects board costs extra!

Another thing I dont like is the non-removable media, I hate hard drives for recording (unless its on a computer). It just seems like a hassle, and I like to keep EVERYTHING I record. I also don't like digital mixers, the mixer on the MD8 adds more warmth I think then a digital one would.

However, some pluses are that the Akai has no compression, 4 more tracks, and it looks like a digital out too, for a few hundred more bucks. I check out Zzounds, and they have it for $1,209, while I got my MD8 there for $950.

So I don't know, I really like my MD8, but it seems like if the Akai is within your budget, it may be a better buy. But I would make sure it has more than 6 inputs first, because that would be pretty lame.
