after decent results with live recording on a stereo MD Walkman, i was considering a multitrack (4 or 8) MD recorder. but when i looked at a Yamaha 8-track in a store, there appeared to be no digital output (no SPDIF, not TOSLINK).
is there a multi track MD recorder with SPDIF or digital optical output? |

I think that the Fostex does, but remember it only records 2 tracks simultaneously. Tracking live won't work...

The MD8 has an analog mixer anyway, so your not going to gain too much with digital outs.
But yeah, the Tascam 564 does have a digital out. Check it out here: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Tascam_564.html I'd say go for the MD8 (4 more tracks), just because I have one, and I'm really, really cool. -Nilbog |

Holy cow, this Tascam is like $1500 bucks too! I would say thats NOT worth the digital out and 4 less tracks...

A while back I bought a Tascam MK-11 dual tape deck to mix down; that item made more noise than 14 women playing poker. Pops, clicks, dings, dongs, etc.
I have since felt that Tascam has lost the quality they had of former years. I bought a Sony ES deck to replace the MK-II and it is SUPERIOR in every way. Also very light -- modern electronics are marvelous. So, I'd go for the MD-8 because it's a pretty box for the bucks. Green Hornet |
