Selling your songs.

What type of songs are we talking about. In general it is all about recognition. With me I am concerned with only the 'elite' songs, ie-proper songs. When I play certain people listen. It is quite hard to sell your songs on one performance unless they are catchy on first hearing. One thing to be sure of is that before you attempt to sell any songs get copyright on them. I can't really understand that if you have a good song or collection of them that you would want to sell them-how about pushing to release them yourself?

I'm just curious as to what the process is. Can you submit them somewhere? Who's buying them? I'm all for making a go of it with your own songs but what if you're nobody? Having someone bigger doing one of your songs should equal some good promotion for the rest of your stuff right?
