This came out of Stiggy Dazrdust's post, called "Idea".
I challenge you/us to contribute a line, with this approximate rhythm/metre: "Don't buy a house in Leighton Buzzard" After a few days, we try and hang 'em together and let the tunesmiths and V-band people have a go. Here's my effort: "Overcast and threatening rain" (You can tell I'm from the UK) Come on - give it a go! Delso |

Last night we had a barbeque party at 3:00 in the morning. Here is my tribute...
"Overcast and threatening rain"... Stomach wrenched in searing pain... Ate too much steak last night I fear... Looks like its time to get more beer... "Don't buy a house in Leighton Buzzard"... You might get me as your neighbor's... You'd hate my late night barbeques... Unless you like to party too... |

Thanks.
There was a hit about three-four years ago, which went: "Things Can Only Get Better!" |

And they have.
Thanks, Emeric and drstawl for posting over on the "Idea" thread. Can we try to avoid the end-rhyme - just stick to the metre/meter? Go, wordsmiths! |

Oh my. After how quite a few of us have admitted that we suck at lyric writing, you want some lines from us? This should be fun.

"She took some other guy's dick and stabbed it through your heart."
Oh wait, it doesn't fit the meter. Never mind. ![]() |

Nah, I can't take credit for it. I just heard it while one drunk friend was giving advice to another drunk friend.

Nice one, Ron. It's got a real triplet feel. Hope it's not autobiographical!

Overcast and threatening rain
Storm ahead will be my bane But I'm too numb to feel the warning wind Day succumbs to early night But I'm too blind to miss the light Unknowingly I stumble toward my end [This message has been edited by psychobman00 (edited 07-02-2000).] |

Don't buy a house in Leighton Buzzard
To far away, and the weather's a pain You need a clear sky, in Buzzard there's mostly Wind, overcast and threatening rain Soon you will panic, run for your car buckle your seat belt put in a high gear above the speed limit you head for the M1 and try to outrun your Bedfordshire fear |

Thanks, Delso! No, haven't been there. All I know about it I got from the web. 35 miles North of London, and a map revealed it to be in Bedfordshire, close to the M1. Internet Rules!
![]() Yup, you got it wrong! But you were very close. It's "Jag tycker om det". |

The distance is out of focus...
Beyond the line in the sand... I discard my weathered compass... There are no poles to draw me in... My conscious shows me my fears... And this journey has wearied my soul... But the known and the unknown are the same... They are the feet I walk with, pushing on... In this "Overcast and Threatening Rain"... Good idea Delso ![]() [This message has been edited by Roktuk (edited 07-15-2000).] |

I will tread this mountain...
I will scale this rocky wall... My shoes are blistered feet... So far from my center, my home... This is my path, my vision... And will not trade for any man's... For this rain is my lesson... My answer... my question... my... |
