ART Pro VLA or FMR RNC?

I am interested in both, and have read good reviews on both, but don't know which to get....I can get the ART for $269, and 1 RNC for about $180. But I think I need at least a 2 channel? Any comments...? Thanks guys and gals.

Both are two channel, but the RNC only operates as linked two channels. The ART can operate as two independent mono compressors.

Yo Lordy, Lordy, Lordy, Ms. Maudi:}

I have the RNC and think it is a fine product considering the price.

I like the little magic button on the RNC which gives you a nominal setting for the compressor--don't need to twiddle all the dials unless you want to do that. I love simplicity.

Even though the other model costs more, I think the RNC is a better product.

Opinions are like toes: most of us have ten of them.

Get both - It's the only way.

They're two quite different units - The RNC is fairly transparent and "clean" sounding while the VLA has a wonderful warmth to it that can be pretty addictive in some cases.

Compressors are like toes also - You should have ten of them.

In Musicians Friend latest fall catelog the Art Pro VLA is listed at $229.99 (on page 206). You will only get that price if you call up with your order, as I believe the on-line price is higher. It's a good deal for $229.99 - I've got both the RNC and the VLA, but I haven't used the VLA much yet as my room is just being finished up.

Yo Massive Master:

I have a small studio so I'm nine compressors behind you.

Actually, I only have two (analog) units on hand - The Manley Vari-Mu and an Art Pro VLA. I find myself wanting little else...

But for tracking and mixing... The more the merrier for sure.
