Burning long songs with BR1600?

A neophyte question - I've been using the br 1600cd to track gigs with my band (an obvious attraction with the machine being the simultaneous 8 track live recording ability). I just set it up and let it run through each set - thus making each set or the whole gig a "song" to be edited and subdivided later. Basically I just want to be able to then cut these up into the individual actual songs and throw away and down-time between songs, bad cuts, etc. and then burn "the good stuff" from 2, 3 or 4 sets onto one CD. I've been able to do this and cut out the unwanted stuff, etc.

I've found the machine pretty easy to use and have been very pleased with the results. I have one thing that is maddening though - I'm sure there's got to be an easier way and I'm hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction; when burning to CD ('disc at once by mark' - if I do 'song at once', I lose the marks and just get one long song... If it fits) I can't seem to select which 'marks' to include or not and have no way (other than throwing good material out) to make it fit on a CD if I have more material in total time that will fit on one CD. -- I'm fine with putting it on as many CDs as needed.

So, anyone know how to select or subdivide material to make it fit on a CD?

I'm sure you know what you're doing. All I know to do is to follow the instructions in the manual on pages 49-50.

Assigning an audio-CD song division to a marker:

And on page 66.

Dividing long tracks and writing as multiple songs(Disc At Once By Marker)

1. Record the performance that you want to write to the audio CD as a stereo track(on any of the tracks from 1/2 through 15/16
2. Move the current position to a point at which the song is to be divided.
3. Hold down(TAP) and press(MARK)-a CD track marker is created at that point, and a "T" will appear in the top screen's Marker box. At the same time, the CD track number is automatically set as that marker's name.(i.e. CD01)
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each of the points at which you want the track to be divided.
5. Save current song
