MR-8 to pc to cd

I'm thinking of getting an M R8. How easy is this machine to record on to then go to computer then burn a CD? I have a Hi-MD but to get it to burn a cd you have to go line in, in real time and only analog. Is the MR8 sound quality good. I mainly record myself playing pipe organ and burning cd's for myself, family and a few friends. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It's so simple it's almost a crime. When you purchase the mr8, you go online to the Fostex website and download the wave manager. The mr8 has a usb port installed, and you can use the wave manager to copy your tracks directly to a folder that you specify on your pc. Then you can use any number of recording softwares out there to mix and master them and burn to cd. I haven't tried and don't know if it is possible to burn directly to cd with the mr8, but I don't think you can. You can burn the copied tracks to cd, though, because the mr8 copies them to the pc as mono wave files. If that's all you need, then you're good to go. If you want stereo, then you need some sort of software. Everyone on here talks about ntrack. I can't say yeah or nay on it, though, because I use something else. Ntrack is inexpensive and user friendly from what I gather, though.

To get the most out of the cf card that comes with the mr8 you will most likely need to import to pc. I use Power Tracks by Pro Audio. 48 tracks,great quality,4part harmonizer. Ntracks is 88 tracks, gets lots of praise in here. Both about $50.00. Wav manager also allows you to export mixed tracks back to mr8 to use as reference for more overdubbing.

while you can mix down to a stero file on the mr8 and burn a cd from it.........

its not the best way....go to the pc as suggested, you will also need a mixer , the preamps arent hot enough to get a good signal on the mr8, 50. 00 behringer will work well.....
