AKG C 2000 B Condenser Mic.... not enough phantom power?

This is the second time I'm posting it because there were no replies to the first and i am very anxious to hear the answer:

My girlfriend bought me this mic a few months ago and I am only now attempting to use it. The manual says it should be able to use any phantom power, 12, 24 or 48V ?

I am using a Rolls GCi 404 which has 12 V phantom power (connected to my floppy drive). My other mics (audiotechnia DR-VX2) work fine on it, but my AKG doesn't. Ive tried turning the preamp on the rolls all the way up, thinking it just didn't pick up the sound or something. Nothing.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Plug an XLR cord into the Rolls and connect a Voltmeter to Pin 1 and Pin 2 - it should read about 12 Volts on the DC scale. Leave Pin 1 hooked up and move the other probe from Pin 2 to Pin 3. It should also read about 12 Volts on the DC scale. If they both read 12 Volts, the Rolls and the bable are working and the mic is bad. If you can't get a 12 volt reading on Pins 2 and 3, either the cable is bad, or the Rolls is bad.

Or take it to anyone you know with any mixer that has 48V Phantom and see if you get signal.
Harvey- Does having different Phantom voltages affect tone at all? Just curious if we'll be seeing "variable Phantom power" preamps in the future like the variable impedence ones now.

We already have that, thanks to some of the mics already out there, and some of the preamp manufacturers.
