Talking Mogami VS Canare

Mogami VS Canare cable
Anybody have any comments about which one they perfer? I am going to buy in bulk for both microphone cable and instrument cable (for guitar). anything to tip me either way would be nice.

I much prefer Mogami, because of the spiral shield, as opposed to Canare's braided shield. The spiral shield works just as well, and is about a thousand times easier to work with (you never have to unbraid it). I am soldering it into my patch bay, so the braid is a real pain in the ass.

I use both equally and have not heard any sonic difference (nor would I expect to...) - but I'm also not soldering it, so Light may have a point....

I have both in my studio as well, and don't notice a difference either.

Light, why are you using mic cable on your patchbay? If it is back of the patchbay connections you re making, console cable is a lot easier to work with and is much lighter and smaller. It also ahs the same sheilding factor as mic cable.

I use Canare console cable for most of my back of the rack wiring. It has foil shield, which is super easy to work with.

I am using it for both mic cables and the patch bay, and patch cables, and a whole bunch of other stuff. It was just easier, for me, to just buy one kind of cable.

You might want to consider having different cable for different purposes. There is so much less bulk to deal with when using console cable behind racks, it is much easier to handle. It depends on how many patchbays you have, too. I have seven TRS patchbays, so using mic cable was pretty much out of the question. I could see it working with 1 or maybe 2 patchbays though.

I have two, and the second one is only 75% full. But like I said, it was just easier to buy just one kind of cable.
