Monitor Dillema, please HELP!

I wanna get myself some monitors but i don't know which one do you think are better? Not that im asking which one is the BEST, but just asking your oppinion about these ones, the UPS and DOWNS.....

The monitors are:
Yamaha MSP 5
KRK RP8
Behringer 2031A
Phonic P8A
Tapco S8

Please, im not asking this to get you people angry because im not the only one who have asked this. But ive searched the forum and some others, but i dont understand the ups and downs of these monitors. I live in the Netherlands and Wharfedale isnt selling here! So, please dont start on Wharfdale. Anyways, if you wanna give me some information about these monitors i would be most grateful!!!!!

I would say out of those the KRK RP 8 would be, along with the berries, the obvious choice. You'll need to listen to them though. Ups and downs are personal. (but you know that... right...?)

use the search function under my name. ive made many comments about my experiences with monitors. if you search under my name youll find out i'm sceptical about spending lots of money on them. as ive been that route.
if you want affordable, demo a pair of yorkvilles that a lot of folks seem to like.
a guy on these boards who i respect for his opinions is HAN.
he says to check out a pair of compact 2 monitors. inexpensive if i remember the post. around 70 bucks or so. if i remember the post was in the microphones section of this bbs. i would suggest you search under his name.
for more accurate info. KEF units are normally good.

The best thing to do is to visit your local music store and try out the different monitors because your ears are different than everyone elses and it's your ears that will be listening to these. Bring yourself a good Pink Floyd cd with you and compare what they have.

I like my KRKs alot.

I also hear the Wharfdales are incredible for the money. Talk to Deepwater.

Semt, you ask a very personal question, with an open field. I read it and expected that few would respond. Here's my take... Monitors are indeed a very subjective choice, and any of the name brand models work well for some people. Many folks here (like me) will praise what they own because we've gotten used to our monitors and know *how* to listen to them. And many of us have not used many others, so it's difficult for us to compare. Add to that our limited time to respond and you end up with not getting much help. It's nothing personal.

My tips, for what they're worth:

* search more online. Some extra time searching this forum, magazine archives, and elsewhere on the web will definitely reveal some opinions on the monitors you mention. Try different search terms to uncover more sources.

* get out and listen to some of them. If that's not possible, buy a few of a your top contenders to audition in your home--just be sure you can return the losers. (This is what I did, and my decision came quickly, with just some minor return shipping charges as the price.)

* or narrow your choice down to a couple of models, search some more, and then return here for some feedback. Sometimes an "A vs. B" question will yield more feedback since the chance is greater that some folks have heard both models. (Still, you'll probably find folks primarily praising what they already own and use--that's to be expected.)

* in the end, trust no one's opinion too strongly. Especially with speakers, many of us have found that the models acclaimed by others didn't cut it for us when we actually tried them. Your ears and tastes and room are unique.

The KRKs have an 8" woofer; most of the other frugal monitors only offer a 6.5" woofer--It does make a difference.

I had the Yorkvilles and replaced them with the KRK ST8s. Bigger, better, cleaner sound from the KRKs.

Although the KRKs are made in China, the manual is in English.

I own a pair of the KRK RP8s and they are nice. They have a good sound with alot of bottom. They don't sound "good" to the ear, but monitors are ment to be flat. By that I mean they sound good just not hyped in the top and botton.
