Question

Well, okay, here's an idea. Sometimes I wish I could see other people using their studios - I think I might be able to learn something. Well, maybe we can accomplish something like that here. So, tell me what you use CEP for and how you use it.

(grin) Now don't you start - CEP means Cool Edit Pro, not Christian Evangelical Preacher.

Howzit Dobro,

I mix my midi and audio tracks in cubase, and then record them with cool edit (which makes a wave file). I know I can record the midi tracks in cubase and transform them into audio files, but when I do that I lose sound quality. I'm probably screwing up somewhere along the line, but that's how I use cool edit.

Question

Hm? You mix first, then record?

Dunno bout midi or Cubase, but if you're working with wav files throughout, there shouldn't be any degradation of sound, right? And yet, I've heard that the same track or wav.file sounds different using different software. Software shouldn't color sound. Here's an idea: let's take this question over to the midi forum, and see if it gets a response.

I started with an alesis adat and unwittingly
formatted my first three tapes at 48000. I
have been using cep to tranfer the sample
rate of the songs i recorded to 44100 so I
can download them on cd.
There are no glitches when i do this as
happens with other programs. (am using demo
version of ce 2000. wish i could afford cep)
