Monitors

Hey guys!! I'm looking to upgrade my project studios monitors, I am usings M - Audio Studiophile monitors, but the 6" woofer isn't getting the job done. Not enough bass response, or punch. I know I could get a subwoofer, but thats a plan for another day. I am looking for the best bang for my buck 8" powered monitors or 10" powered monitors. If you mention an unpowered monitor, please let me know of a good complimentary power amp.

Thanks a bunch.

Out of curiosity, why wouldn't you just add the maudio sub that is designed to work with the bx-5's ?

I would add a sub. That way you can balance how much bass is filling your room. If you get monitors with a 10" driver and have a small room you'll get a poor sound image. Also if you crossover your 5" at 100hz and let the sub carry the low end you'll get a better sound since your 5's want be trying to reproduce the low Freq.

The less work a speakers has to do the cleaner the sound. Thats why you get a nice sound out of a Three-way.
