Question

Before I record something, I make a new folder for it in Explorer. After the session's recorded, I click on Save Session As, and get a dialog box asking me to name the session. After I've done that, I get dialog boxes asking me to name each track I want to save.

But if I'm not careful, although I highlighted my target folder at the top of the dialog box the first time, CEP seems to want to put what I'm saving into another, different folder (then I have to go looking for it in Explorer afterwards and tidy things up). It's as if although I tell CEP where I want to save it, CEP forgets.

Is this a CEP quirk, or am I doing something wrong?

I too have shared your problems. I usually just do the session in the default folder until I have enough of it to put in another folder and then I open the session in the folder and work with it that way. So, I think it is just a CEP flaw.... since 1.0

Thumbs down

I used to have a problem with CEP losing files completely... I posted a question about it in the Pixelite CEP forum and they all told me I was stupid...
Then I reinstalled CEP and that fixes it for awhile but eventually it starts happening again.
I finally found a permanent solution... Vegas Pro.

Cynic! (grin) Okay, fellow collaborator, what's Vegas Pro do that CEP can't? I ask this question only because it may add to our knowledge of CEP, you understand.

You really have to try it out to understand the difference... It's kinda like the difference between driving a porsche and a ford escort... They are both cars... Both will get you where you want to go... maybe.
With vegas the load time is eliminated (dont ask me how...) and everything works in real time. Try EQing your bass guitar when you can't hear it along side the other tracks... CEP forces you to set all of your EQ, compression, reverb, etc. without hearing the rest of the mix... It is a waste of time.
I'm gonna post my new song in a few days and i'll let you guys be the judge of whether or not there is a difference in sound quality.
There's a good in-depth review of Vegas Pro at www.prorec.com and for some reason they never even mention CEP on their entire site?!?!?!?

LOL - well, they wouldn't, would they? Thanks for the report, Porsche man.

Drivers, start your engines...
