help with compression/mixing to CD with Soundforge 4.5

I asked a question earlier regarding mastering a track with Soundforge 4.5 ready to press to vinyl, & realise i'm well out of my league doing this. Everyone says I should try a professional mastering studio, which i will in due course.

BUT i have a 'House/dance track that i want to burn to CD ready for trail illigel/pirate radio use. Just so i can get feedback from listeners. I'm having major trouble compressing this, in that the end result sounds really low, & theres a bit of a lack of middle.

Any tips on what i can do. I only have soundforge 4.5 so need someone to explain a simple process for me, so it will sound pumping & constantly level with other records when played on radio.

Many thanks for any help given....

You might want to try posting it as an MP3 in the MP3 Clinic - There's really no way to tell much without actually hearing the track.

Go as high bitrate as you can (at LEAST 192kbps for "reasonable" sound).
