Tascam MKIII to Computer

Hi all,

I recently obtained a Tascam 424 mk III, and am interested in finding out what would be the best way to get what I have recorded on it transferred to my computer. I'd like to make some mp3 files, if possible.

Any tips?

using your pc

Hi, I record on a 424mk III also and love it! I mix my tapes to my hard drive using AUDIO TOOLS V 4.61. This is a share ware program intended to record old vinyl and tape music to your pc. It works great , and lets you store your files in wave format, but will convert them to mp3 also. It is free but only lets you record 10 min. at a time unless you buy it, but for our purpose that is fine.

I have a soundblaster live sound card. You will want to buy a dual rca plug into a stereo mini jack. run it from the tascam out put to the sound card, DO NOT plug it in to the pc mic jack or it will sound like sh t (to the input) also make shure you unplug the pc mic. The program will promt you and is very easy to use.you will need to experiment a little, I find that it may take 2 or 3 takes befor you get a mix you like. It is best to burn CD AND PLAY IT ON A GOOD SYSTEM ALSO. hope this helps. ---ken
