chessparov,
Is that a "hands down" preference over the M-audio DMP3? And if so, is that because of the compressor/EQ? I've read here somewhere that the meters on the DMP3 were basicly useless, does this figure into your recommendation as well? |

That's good to know for future reference, but it's a bit more than the specified $150-$200
Where is a good place to buy one anyway? Only place I found had them for $1,075. I'd have to save a while, and then save again for a divorce lawyer... |

The Studio Projects unit seems like for cheap.
The VTB-1 I believe. $125.
Musicians friend has the Art Pro Channel for $300 (I know out of specified range but only a little). Thats supposed to be good if you dont use the tube and has useable EQ and a descent compressor. Or find and old Tascam M series mixer. I got an M30 for $80 buck and have 8 pretty nice sounding (relatively speaking) pres and that Tascam EQ.... plus its a mixer Of course that model doesnt have phantom power but you could get a stand alone phantom unit with the money you save. -mike
