Minidisc Data

I am contemplating purchasing a Multi-track Minidisc recorder. A Yamaha MD-8. Is the type of disc this records on a MD140 Data disc that cost about $13.00 per disc? It is an 8 track Multi-tracker. DB

Yo Dave:

That's the one. The 140 disc will record 8 tracks.

You can also buy two track discs which are cheaper. However, you would most likely want a couple of 8 track discs for a great range in recording.

It's a fun machine.

Price for MD8

G.H., Does 400.00 seem fair for an MD8. There is one on ebay. Item# 3747050916 It says it was hardly used. DB

Arrow This one.

Even better idea: sit tight til 5 seconds before end of auction and launch a $400 bid, and you'll likely score it for $300. At $300, it's an appreciably better deal, although it's fair at $400.

IF you really cannot stand the 7-day wait for this listing to close, AND you want the absolute assuredness of getting what you want, no questions asked, then BUY-IT-NOW! There is no guarantee I, or anyone could give you that within 7 days, this MD-8 might not bid over $400, and your opportunity would be lost.

It's a tough call to make, but to answer your original question, it's definitely worth $400, (but probably appreciably better at $300, if you can take the chance & stand the wait. It's a game you play with Ebay, sometimes).

If I were to be in the market for an MD-8, I'd have no problem popping for this one, outright, and that's the best endorsement I can give.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3747050916

be careful

I have a Yammie MD 8...
it's great, but thru a lot of readings..they are nototrious for
Bad/Faulty Disc Interfaces. (where you physically stick the MD into the unit and press the lid down)....

very common this unit has a problem here.

$400 is a great price if it works.

I'd sell mine...but I'm not sold on this computer recording yet.
have 12 days before i return it.
M-Audio USB with Live3 Multitrack software (10 Track).
$147.00 GC or Frys...

The hardware part is cool and easy.

But for an old Anaolg type guy, going from cassettes to upgrade the MD8 is hard to beat for user friendliness.

The old ADAT VCR tape sht was nice & easy to use for an old type-Analog head too.

I paid $325 used in GC for mine, works great...some noise on the buss but they all have some of that. Musicians Freak sells em for $1200.

I wouldn't do E BAY with that kind of equipment. IMO

MD DATA DISK- you can get like 3 qty 8 Multi-Track songs on each (~15min)
TDK etc..
No one hardly sells them anymore publically, Internet purchase.

Standard two track discs will play- only...no Multi Track on them.

For Multi-Track, it's DATA Disc's...

Good luck...
I've had 10 different Cassette-4T& 8T, ADAT, Cakewalk, 4T MD's....
the Yammie MD8 has been my favorite over all of them.

The gang here helped me tremendously in getting a good cheap mic, DMP3 Pre Amp and a nice Reverb/Echo unit-tc electronic M300.....

i'm trying out the M-Audio USB mutlitracker now, but it's not looking good as far as complete ease of use as the MD8.

it's hard to beat pressing only two buttons and your fhkng recording....

Arrow The common "stereo" minidiscs will record and play back only in stereo,...

with no multitrack capability.
