Importing Pro Tools Audio Files into CEP

Gday guys, recently exported a few tracks I have been working on from CoolEdit 2.1 to use on a friends ProTools system on his Mac (sorry don't recall the protools ver.). By export I mean I just added silence to all tracks to start them at 0:00 and saved in 24/48.

But now I'm having all manner of difficulties in bringing the worked-on files back into cooledit. Mac ProTools has saved them all as .L and .R tracks, and I'm having no luck fiddling around trying to get them back into CEP. WaveLab doesn't seem to be able to help me either. I'm guessing the .L and .R files are just headerless 24/48 mono wavs. But none of the import processes in CEP seem to be able to get them in.

Has anyone else seen or heard of this? Or could think of a solution or workaround? I'm going to try downloading ProTools(Win) demo from digidesign, and see if that helps. But I'm predicting thats going to be a massive pain in the backside, does anyone know of anything easier?

Much obliged.
