Potentiometer rigged as a signal blender?

I'll keep it brief - can a Potentiometer be used as a signal blender for two pickups? I am planning on using a Les Paul bridge pickup on one end of the pot then hook up a P90 to the other, using the wiper as an output to a volume control.

Must be a pretty similar setup to DJ mixers right? I was a bit worried that maybe the higher output humbucker would load the P90 and make it sound nasty....

You need a blend pot, which is two stacked pots, sharing the same shaft, which you wire in opposite directions. Any music store can get you one from Allparts or WD, but you can probably find one at your local electronics supply house (NOT at Rat Shack). You want a 500 ohm pot.

I think this is the same set up as the original Broadcaster/Telecaster.

It's a double volume pot; the two pots are stacked vertically on the same shaft so as you turn one up the other gets turned down.

It's actually pretty cool.

How's the Isle of Wight, Neil?

Cheers for the replies guys.

This double pot sounds like the sort of thing I'm looking for - I should be able to get it from www.wdmusicproducts.co.uk so I'll give them a ring.

The Island is lovely at the moment-we've managed to miss the worst of the flooding on Mainland Britain. Although I'll be back to Uni soon

It's warm enough still to sleep on the beach without a tent though! Always a bonus.

Thanks for the help!
