Dented MD421
During a session today, some drummer was not to carefull and gave my MD421 a damn good whack. Luckily, the mic seems to be ok besides for a big dent in the screen. Is there any way besides sending my mic to Sennheiser to get some dents fixed in the screen of my MD421?

That's a bummer man, but that's also drumming.
I don't know how easy it is on the 421, but if you can disasemble the mic and remove the screen you should be able to push it back out with your thumb... or maybe gently with the butt of a drumstick.

thats the thing with the mic, there are no visable screws anywhere. I took off the end cap that surrounds the XLR but nothing there. Does the case just snap together? If I could figure out how to take it apart, I could fix it but I am totally lost.

Harvey Gerst is the first person I'd ask. Send him an email. I'm sure he'd be happy to help you.

Cool, I'll have to drop him a line.
Anyone else have any insight? |

Quote:
Step 2. Remove the back end assembly of the mic. Step 3. Inside the body (possible covered with a dab of silicone glue) is a 7mm nut. Step 4. Remove the 7mm nut and the whole mic will come apart. Step 5. Fix the screen and reassemble in reverse order. |

That's awesome. I have 2 dented 421's and had no idea how to take them apart. Great stuff. Sounds like a nice project for the weekend.
