Question I'm getting static when I record

I've tried changing my mics, and it doesn't make much of a difference. I keep getting static when I record and I was wondering if it's a problem with the program (I use Cool Edit Pro) or whether it is my computer and how I can fix it. I've tried different mics, so I know that it's not the mics that are causing it. Please e-mail me if you have any input. Thanks!

if you plug into the mic input, there will be static. try the line-in input with a preamp. also, it might be ur cable.

If you are going to use the line in, you must have a mic preamp.

No offense, but typing "holla" on this message board will get you no where. Please don't discredit yourself by typing like a schoolgirl.

On to your problem... The static you're getting on your recording is from the soundcard. You can use the line in plug, but you'll need to unmute it from the mixer window in the control panel. If you choose to do so, I'd suggest muting the Mic line as to not allow any feedback from the soundcard.

Also, what soundcard do you have? What Mic do you have? Pre-amp or Mixer?

Cool Edit is not the source of the problem.
