Ah, might you mean "metronome?"

I'm at work, but IIRC in the Metronome menu there is a choice of selecting outputs for PC Speaker or MIDI. Choose MIDI (assuming you have a sound card with with an onboard midi synth, or an external midi source you can use).

ya, as cool as Sonar is, if you don't have the right setup, the metroNOME is junk. The best way to do it, i find, is to open a MIDI track and insert 4 1/4 notes, then groove clip it and drag it out. Then assign that midi track to the edirol softsynth and use a drum beat that sounds good to you. Finally save this as a template so you don't ahve to set it up again.

The only other thing I would add to Minofifa's advice would be to NOT use a cymbal or hi-hat hit for the metronome. These types of hit are very high-pitched and are more likely to bleed from your headphones and end up recorded on the acoustic track. Try getting that out without effecting the guitar's tone!

Instead, do what I should have done, and use a low-pitched percussive tone instead - something like a claves hit.

Ciao,

Q.

Actually, I got too much bleed with the cowbell at levels the drummer could play against. It was the claves hit that did the trick.

add a DXi synth, use the included Edirol one, set the thing to a standard drum kit, and create the metronome with a midi track, the synth has metronome sounds. then SAVE THE THING AS A TEMPLATE or go though that every time
