Sound Room Help!

Me and My bassist plan on isolating a part of my basement. Actually it's a cubby so it goes into the wall... we are gonna enclose it and and have our mixer and recorder in there. We currentlty are planning to use plywood then drywall on the outside and just drywall on the inside..any suggestions

If you can wait just a few days, the September issue of EQ magazine will feature an article describing the construction of an acoustically correct project studio that can be built in a basement or garage. This article should contain exactly the advice you're looking for.

there are alot of products that can assist in sound dampening...Z bar, donnaconna( I know that has to be the wrong spelling =) ), also insulating the walls helps as well. You can find out about soundproofing from a drywall supply company since most of the acoustic products are installed commercially by the drywall trade.

I plan on building a studio as well...one that I can CRANK my amp up to get real overdriven tones without waking the wife and kids so I'll be sure to get that issue of EQ mag.

I would watch myself VERY carefully here - 9 out of 10 drywall contractors I've spoken with have NO concept of the physics involved in sound isolation, and will end up costing you money for nothing; in some cases, what they recommend will actually make things WORSE -
