The Triton LE is basically a synth with sampling capabilities and the MPC 1000 is a sampling groove box. Unless you have played with and really like the Triton you will probably find the MPC more flexible, especially with the 128 meg upgrade for around 100 bones...

Be sure you get a good one though -- quality control issues include uneven pad velocity sensitivity and dumping of the memory.

There is a small utility-type program out there for Windows XP and the MPC 1000 that lets you set up programs visually and load them into the memory card. I use it and it works well...

Drums are very important in hiphop. If you think either the Triton LE or the Motif has drums that you want to live with for a while by all means buy one...

For my money, I like the flexibility an MPC gives you. I also use it as the main sequencer when I play live. But that's just me.
