Tentelometer........anyone got one to spare?

Guys and gal,

I'm looking to find a Tentelometer, model T2-H20-ML at a sensible price. If anyone has any ideas, please keep my need in mind.

Are you having tape tension issues with the ATR60-16?

I hope not!

From what I have seen in the past, those meters are expensive to buy new!

Cheers!

Ghost,

I don't think there are any major problems apart from the stuffed pinch roller which I have found replacements for here in Aust., but if we are going to have to maintain this deck ourselves, then I'd like to have the necessary gear to do it properly.

The gauge I want retails for approx., $425US but out here I have been told they may be close to $1500Au...........someone is greedy.

I was outbid for one on Ebay at 5.00am this morning (Yep, I got out of bed especially )..............in the last 15 seconds someone beat my bid and it went for $127US so I'm on the warpath..........lol.

Why not use a spring scale on a lever?

Frankly, when servicing a standard tape machine I not even measure tape tension at all. I hear for the reproduction of trebles and modulation noise, feel the tension with my finger and watch tape transport. One time with a full spool and another time with an empty spool. The left spool is most important.

I use a spring scale for measuring pinch roller pressure and only sometimes for measuring tape tension, for example when servicing a Telefunken T9.

Uli,

Thank you for the suggestion. The Tascam ATR-60 manual does say to use spring scales for checking the reel torque, etc., (I am already in the process of purchasing some scales), but it does advocate the use of a Tentelometer for checking the tape tension although I guess there would be other ways to do this.

Chris,

I have the Tentelometer you are looking for. I was an engineer at MCI way back in the day and still own a pair of JH114 recorders. 30 years of experience has given me the 'touch' so I really don't need the Tentelometer anymore. I have been looking to sell it. With the exception of the foam insert that originally came in its case (foam rubber doesn't do so well in South Florida) it is practically in 'new old stock' condition, complete with the calibration weight.

I remember it costing me something in the high $300's long ago. Because of its condition, I would like to get $250 for it. If this seems reasonable, or you would like to make an offer, please feel free to email me at py@comcast.net.

Peter

Peter,

Thanks for the contact however this thread is 3 1/2 years old and I source a unit long ago.

Cheers,
