Worthy compressor?

I keep seeing the Samson S Com for $99. Is this a good compressor for vocals???

Samson opto-compressor

If you're using it specifically for vox, and given your price range, you might be interested in the optical compressor they also produce, although I've never heard one myself:

No doubt the Tampa is pretty amazing, but if he's looking for ElCheapo, that's not going to fit very well...

lil question,
can anyone compare that RNC with a DBX 166 a ?

i got the dbx, and i'm thinking of buying me another one or even the 160

but maybe i can just do it cheaper if the RNC really does sound that nice...
but i don't know... i think i'd rather go for a second hand DBX than an RNC, but thats only because i never heard those Rnicecompressors...

what'cha think ?

The 166 (is the 'a' version still 'auto' only?) is a nice general purpose with it's own sound.
The RNC is in another league. It comes up more versatile, cleaner, and will go almost anywhere (time wise) in ways the the other can't touch.
I would not hesitate to recommend you check this out (based on my own eye-opening experience with both. )
Unless you'll do something similar in software, this is one the will fill out your tool box in a big way.
