Self-Building

I thought this would be a fun thread...Anyone out there build equiptment by themselves? Ex. Pedalboards, Guitars, Basses, Drums. Post some of your creations with pictures possibly! I built myself a pedal board it's 30" x 15" , I made holes in it for cables. I just gotta carpet it! I'll have pictures later

hey, cool post
i'll start it off by posting a link to instructions on building a rack case. Pretty simple but it may give people some ideas. I'm going to try to build a more complicated one in the next few months. I'll put up a pic when i am done. hopefully will be able to find this thread again.

Wow That's a nice desk calwood. Right now I'm using a entertainment center for my recording gear, but i kinda wanted to move to a desk. I'll have to get a picture of that to. Tomorrow I'll probably have some pics. Minofifa how far is it from screw to screw on the rackmounts?

Well, seeing as how my father is a profesional luthier, it should come as no surprise that I have been building guitars since I was 13. As a guitar builder, I am a fair woodworker, so I have also done other woodworking (such as my desk). But yeah, I build guitars.

Can't remember if I posted this here...

FrankenDesk

Originally nothing more than a $100 Office Max (O'Sullivan?) corner desk and a six-space Middle Atlantic Products rack.

Here's my pedal board I promised. Nothing to fancy and it's doen by a 16 year old so it shouldnt be... I drilled holes in it to hide cords. I plan on buying those small like 2" 1/4 to 1/4 cabels the ones made by planet waves.

That frakendesk is a beast.. I love it! I might have to pick one of those (office max ones) up! And that homemade bass is killer does it play good... I know my friend will be posting his "Frakenbass" as it's called in here...I got pics of my studio so I'm gonna put those in the studio pics section.

Thanks

Yes and no....

If I had to do it over again I probably would have bought one of the Fender mexican jazz basses and upgraded the hardware but then again I would like to do a semi hollow body someday.

I can get the action fairly low and it plays nice...it wne tthrought two sets P/U and preamps....The first were EMG's placed in the same spot Music Man basses are but it sounded a little anemic. Bassline came up with Music Man replacement Alcino pickups, pre-amp and active EQ and I switched to those wich I like alot better. I was hoping for a unique cross between a Fender Jazz "Jaco" tone and neck through active sound like on a Pedulla with a little Music Man tone as well.

Being solid maple it sustains forever with rounwounds and flat wounds can still sound failry bright. Unfortunately with the body being 2" of solid maple and a 2-Tech bridge that is farily massive I think I set a world record for the heaviest electric bass in the world...I would not wan't to use it for a whole set.

I also just finished a six month project (weekend work only and working around my sons soccer and baseball shedule as well) custom desk but my digital camera crapped out so it will be a while before I can post any pics.
