Using midi to sync up my two pc's in Cubase SX2

OK, decided to ditch System Link ... no-one even replies to those questions!! , so how about this for another question...this one should be easy ... probably just me being stupid!!
Using midi, I can get the master Cubase SX2 machine to sync up to the slave machine, but it will only start it and stop it .... the slave will not follow tempo track or even run at different tempo from the default. It just starts and stops, and will only run at 120 BPM.
Yeah I know I am being stupid somewhere , but I just cant figure out where!!
