can't export mixdown from cubase?!

i'm new to cubase (sx), and after working with some stuff now i want to mixdown. when i try to do it i get either a message saying i need to set the left and right somethings or other, or i just get an error (cant remember exact wording of it...) for now i have just been recording it internally with my soundcards recorder, at high quality wave, recording off the internal sound....this seems to work fine i guess....but why can't i export mixdown?

How to export a mixdown is a basic procedure you find in the manual. You really should read the manual before you use cubase and probably read it twice. The information you read will be invaluable towards the understanding of what you're doing and the quality of your mix.

you might need to set the right and left markers to span the length of your song, although that said i wouldn't have thought it would stop you mixing down unless perhaps both markers are set to 00:01:01, then it wouldn't know what your audio range is i.e. where your song starts and finishes. Just a thought.

That is exactly the problem and he should just RTFM because it's in there. Or, maybe he lost the manual. Yea, that's it.

Sorry just trying to help, I'm sure he paid for his copy like the rest of us ! I must admit I hate trawling through manuals although I know I should, But my learning style has always been "doing" primarily and I would prefer to ask advice from the experienced guys on this forum as and when things occur!

To be fair, putting the manual as a pdf doesn't help anybody much. At the price they charge I think they could include a printed one. Might fill up some of the space in the box too!!!

I'd much rather pay 2 bits for paper and print the manual than pay an extra 10 dollars to have them supply it (labor, packaging, transportation and postage adds up). It's much more convenient to have the manual in pdf format with an option to print it. IMHO

SCUD, I too learn a lot from just doing things and trying different things. However, I kind of feel like it wastes my (and others) time to just blindly ask questions without at least doing a little research first. I can not tell you how much I learned from and enjoyed reading Cubase SX power. That was after having used Cubase SX fairly intensely for over a year. The other thing is that PDF or printed manual, things are easy to find. You don't have to read the whole manual. PDF is great because you can search for key words etc... that help to more quickly find the answers to questions.

Since I am already posting, by default the left and right locators in a blank p[roject are set to 0 so there would be nothing to export unless you set them first.

The Cubase (xx) Power series is a good one, but to tell the truth the best thing I ever did was took a few hours to print out the manual and put it in two three ring binders. I could take it with me anywhere I went and just look in the table of contents and go "ya, I might like to do that sometime" and I would look it up and read about it.

Some people have gone to a copy center like Kinko's and had it done for them in one double sided bound book. I tried and the guy looked like he didn't want to do it and then realized an out and said "I need you to get this form filled out by them saying it's okay to copy this material." I pointed out I had a licence from them. No go. I pointed out they offer the manual on the net for free and he says "It's my job man". So I left the copy nazi to his little copy self and bought some ink for my printer.

I agree it would be nice to have the manual included, but on numerous threads with hundreds posting support for it on steinys site, has done no good other than to show us we are on our own as far as the manual is concerned.

Think about it this way, for the cost of some book that won't cover every detail of Cubase, you can print out the manual that DOES cover every detail of Cubase.

If you don't get a response it's because no one here has an answer for you. If I were you I would try the search function on this site and see if that doesn't pull up your answer. If that doesn't work, since it is regarding stacking your soundcards, you might want to try posting your question in the Computer Recording forum and see if someone running dual 44's has an answer for you. I'm also guessing you could go to the delta website and check out their FAQ section, it would probably address this. If your having trouble with it, others before you probably have as well.
