microverb III

I have a ~10 year old microverb III. I love the effects it makes, but it has had a problem cutting in and out for about 5 years. Anyone had a similar problem, and does anyone know of an easy fix? If I crank the volume knobs (input and output) or the effects mix knob, at times it will suddenly come back after cutting out. Also a lot of scratchiness when adjusting the knobs. Could it just need a good cleaning, or do you think there's a real component failure somewhere?

Sounds like dirty pots and it's fairly common. You might get a temporary fix by rotating backs and forth untill it clears up.

How do you clean a dirty pot? (no jokes please!) If its more than just dirt, is it worth it to send it to Alesis for repair, or is it cheaper to just get a new 'verb unit? Byt he way I used to leave this thing plugged in all the time when I wasn't using it. No on-off switch you know. Could that have burned out a transistor or something?
