Cool MXL-V67G as Overhead. . .?

Just curious if anyone has used a MXL-V67G as an overhead for a drum kit, and if so, what kind of results you got. . .?

Also, if I use a LDC like the MXL-V67G as a drum overhead, would it be a good idea to use an isolation shock mount, or is that not really necessary for a drum overhead? Thanks everyone .. .

I havent used one in that position, but yes, you definately want to use a shockmount there. More there than most anywhere else that I can imagine. ON a wood joist supported floor, a set of drums is causing a LOT or shaking and vibrating.

i have infact used it for this. the sound was very bright, in my situation at least. i eventually put it behind me to block out some of the cymbols and the snare (keep in mind that the cymbols were pretty explosive and the snare was a piccolo). it picked up the toms very nicely: very full sounding, good bass and the attack was replicated pretty well. with some possitioning work, i think it could be a fairly usefull overhead mic. i haven't done enough work with it on drums to tell you to go buy it, but if you have it lying around id give it a shot for kicks. if youd like, private message me and i can try and get you a sample.
