tape delays and spring reverbs

Any opinions on using old tape delays and spring reverb units? Would you suggest the roland space echo or is there any alternative modern or "cheap" ways of getting this same sound. thanks in advance.

There are VST plugins that simulate the sound of a Space Echo quite accurately for those working soft. Most dedicated hardware delay units have a way to roll off the top end on the echoes, but none (that I'm aware of) with the authentic wobble that is charactaristic of the Space Echo as the tape passes thru the machine.

As far as spring reverb goes, look for 'Real Reverb' here:

The line 6 delay modeler is awesome.........

I haven't heard of any modern alternative to spring reverb. Fender still makes a stand- alone spring reverb unit.
