CDRom too big for old Masterlink...

I ordered a cdrom unit from Alesis to replace the one that failed in my Masterlink. I have an older machine and since then Alesis have changed their cdrom units from Panasonic to Sony. The new Sony unit is wider than the face plate slot provided on the front of the Masterlink. I sent it back thinking I had the wrong model but they sent me the same model back. Am I going to have to cut the slot bigger on my Masterlink? Alesis said they do not have any of the old Panasonic units left. Anyone have this problem before?
Thanks,
Mike

You'll have to talk to their tech support.... unless they've retooled their fascia (don't think they did!) there must be a way........

It's not too wide

If you look carefully at both units side by side (assuming you've already pulled the Panny out) you'll notice that the Panasonic has the front fascia pulled off and you only see the drive tray. You need to pull the front fascia/door off the Sony. The method for doing so varies from drive to drive but generally for Sony drives you push upward on the drive door until it pops off. Then everything will work just fine.
