With the 3Q you get an EQ and comp. The mic is a nice vocal pre and adds some color

Is the 3Q just one channel?

I own a DMP-3 (two channels) and it's very nice for the money. It's a fairly transparent pre which doesn't add any real character of it's own but imo that's an advantage with low cost mic pres.

It's weighing up whether the extra channel or the eq and comp would be of more use to you and also whether you want a pre which 'colours' your signal.

If it's going to be your only pre for a while I'd go for the DMP-3 because of it's transparency.

Try some pres out before you buy though, you might just really dig the sound of something like the 3Q.

Good luck with it
