Help! Please! Strange Error

Hey!

I have a problem with cubase, its the same in both cubase vst24 and cubase sx, because to start with i thought it was just on sx. but it started happening after i wiped my hard drive and reinstalled, it worked fine before.

the problem is:

when i record something, say a guitar track on an audio channel and there are other tracks playing while i am recording say a drum track then when i mute the drum track and play the recorded audio track the drum track still plays as if it was recorded on the guitar track with it. then i thought maybe it is an option in cubase, but i went to the root folder and played the wav file in media player and it was actually on the wave file aswell!

it even records the click on aswell.

so what i thought might be the problem is devices, maybe record and playback are the same or something but i havent got a clue how to remedy it and it is preventing me from recording anything.

anyone know?

thanks

Yup .....
Goto your soundcards mixer applet and set the record device to Line In ... not "what you hear" or "Stereo Mix" or "Stereo Multitrack" or whatever your soundcard calls it's mixed device. Use only the line in or mic in (consumer cards) or a specific input of a pro-sumer card.
