Please help-cubase se and us 224

Hello all. I have been using the tascam us 224 with the bundled software ( cubasis VST) and have been very satisfied with it for demos. only drawback was not enough audio tracks. So I purchased Cubase se but I'm having problems getting it to work with the us224.

The output will play through no problem but the faders, jog wheel and buttons do nothing. I've gone through the manuals repeatedly and changed all the settings but still no change. Hopefully someone can help, I know it has to be a setting in the device list but I can't seem to find which one.

If it helps I'm using a sony viao PC, 1.5 GHz intel pentium 4, 256 MB pc-133 SDRAM
