Who in the U.K. Repairs Akai 4000 D Reel to Reels for less than Lottery Winners Ban

I salvaged back from my bro's garage my pride and joy reel to reel.Although it cost 30 or so GBP [ quid ] in 72 quotes for getting it back in action are pretty high. The vu meters light up ,but the teensy weensy capstan roller has gone and the rubbery bits around the rollers have become indented.
The motor doesn't turn but I am convinced that it is mainly a going concern.
The first quote I got was for a 500 pound for a replacement machine...apparently valued as an electronic antique, whatever that is.Should I throw it away and forget about it or does anyone know anyone who knows someone who has a friend working in a shed somewhere ...kinda thing ?
I have heard that there might be a guy in Scandinavia who does these things.

I can help you fixing the Akai over the net if you want.
The reason why motor don't kick on, can be a simple rod inside for the automatic shut-off switch is out of track.
Or the tension-arm on the right side is not engaged.

Let me know if you need any pointers.
