My experience wih 2 mics recording a 9-pc

I just thought that I would share my recent success in geting a GOOD drum sound by using just 2 mics.....yes folks...TWO!

I have one ATM33A right above my head facing the same diection as I am sitting on the set, Aiming at a 45 degree angle down.

I have one CAD BAss Drum mic micing the hole in the bass.

The sound was really damn good...toms were audible but not loud the snare and hi-hat boh could be heard distintly...cymbals were the only dissapointment...they were a bit high....I havnt tried EQ At all so this might become superflous. Bass drums was good( it needs tuning...bad!)

Previously I had tried a snare mic, bass mic, and 2 overheads...sound was nasty...no toms..too much snare and hi-hat..bass was ok.

ill get some clips to post soon.
