MCI JH24 (Han?)
I found this deck through a pro-equipment sales operation and it is of interest to me. It is an MCI JH24 with Auto III. Heads have been re-lapped and have %65 left. The machine is in excellent condition and they are asking $3600.
Does anyone (Han) know about this deck at all? How does it sound and is it worth anywhere near this price? Thanx to all. |

I think you'd better ask for the machine at Gearslutz. Jay Kahrs owns the machine as far as I know and besides that, there has been quite some discussion about it there and also on PSW.
The machine seems to be a great rock machine with it's own sound signature. I've never worked with it, so I can't tell you much. I've worked with Studer, Telefunken (M15A) two inch machines and with Fostex and Tascam 1/2" and 1" machines. The machine I currently work with is an Otari MX80, which is a real workhorse. It doesn't have a special 'sound', but what goes in seems to come out with a couple of tape artifacts, what's wrong with that eh? I remember there was some discussion about MCI machines regarding wiring problems, or a connector issue. Search the Gearslutz forums. Peace, Han
