The KRK RP8s are better. The Tapcos seemed a bit hyped

I got my S8's a few days after they finally released them. I have friends in radio and working in studios who are amazed by the sound I'm getting for the buck. The monitors replaced 8 inch speakers with a yamaha sub and I have'nt lost any bass response on my recordings or monitoring. Only problem I have with them are the weight. Each monitor came in at nearly 35 lbs apiece (something I didn't expect) but the sound more than carries their bulk.

Hoi,

Ive had a pair for a few weeks now and love them. They are my first set of actives. I had originaly planned to get the S5's but took a chance with the S8's because there's only so low a 5" woofer can go and i didn't want to have to add a sub later...Its damm hard to find any user comments on these speakers... There not idealy positioned at the moment but i do have DIY rockwool absorbers of different thicknesses which help. They have an immediate smooth non fatiguing sound and enough compensation around the back for most rooms. I like to track and mix at very low levels but there plenty loud for my decks too. They are very heavy and hard to grip because of the routed edges but all this weight pays off at the low end. (confident bass) i will post back once i have them on proper stands...

Brian.
