driving-electro-instrumental-rock song to check out...

Hi -
if anyone has some feedback for this song, I'd appreciate it:
http://www.ridingshotgun.com/temp/AF..._wMidDrums.mp3
It is a track from my band's (Riding Shotgun) upcoming album...
We're starting to get a few tracks near completion and I'm interested in getting some opinions on the mixing/mastering and music. any and all comments welcome. This is all completely "home recorded" (from my bedroom) with a PC and Cool Edit.. Thanks!

turn the drums up and everything else down a bit; but thats comming from a hip hop head :P I'm sure others would say differant.

maybe bring the trippy giutar up towards the end it sounds like it should be the focus point at that time

I really like what you seem to be trying to do here man, you must listen to some Radiohead, or else you should start. I can't say as the 4x4 kick really works all that well, atleast not from the start. The hats sound too canned, like from and old tr-505, which wouldn't be bad just douse em with some fx, wack them out/up a bit. That said I think it's a really cool tune. Your mixture of guitars and elec schtuff is great, I just think if the listener is less able to hear the distinction between organic/inorganic (whatever that means) the more effective a track like this would be, hence the questioning of the beat and probably the bassline too. Also like the ambient one you have up too. I think that one is pretty well set the way it is, maybe lose the midi drum hits all together, play them out yourself, make it feel more "live" and imperfect. For sure good stuff though man.
