Talking M520 question...you da man Ghost!!

Hey Ghost, couple of questions if you don't mind. Seems I've become infatuated with the 520 series mixers. If you recollect, my console was designed for the 300 series, and I bet the height at the meterbridge is the same on the 520. If not no big deal. What is a big deal, is whether or not they will cascade. That, and the issue of a stereo buss output taking up a couple of the 8 buss's. Is that correct? I read an old thread about that but it really didn't explain it where this old brain understood. Could you elaborate on this, and also tell me if the 300 series has the same problem? I don't remember since its been 10 years since I gave it to my son. Anyway, thanks Ghost, or anyone else who cares to chime in on this. I have a couple of MSR's so I'd like to get a couple of these 520's. Seems like an ideal match.

The practice of cascading two 300 or 500 series boards should be the same as you use the fold-back inputs of the main board to accept the outputs from the first board's outputs for all busses, aux and effect sends. Even the solo system can be cascaded and will mute the entire two boards when you solo any channel on either board.

You will not loose any ins or outs in the process at all. It's a win, win situation all the way around.

Just remove the inside wood side panels when you have them butted together, like I have done, make a new top-board to go across the top of the meter bridge and it will look like one big honkin' mama!

Cheers!

That's interesting

Hmmm . . . . so, can you cascade a 320B to, say, a 520 ?

Would they need to be in the same series, & if so, why ?

My 320B arrived on Friday, by the way and it is a beaut !

You could intermix the cascade hook up but, it wouldn't look as cool if you are trying to make them look like one cohesive mixing console.

The other issue would be the 8 buss architecture needing to be the master board if you are cascading with a 300 series, 4 buss mixer.

Glad your mixer arrived safely!

Cheers!

Thanks ,, and good point(s) the two boards wouldn't make a good visual
match; one being blackfaced, the other gray.

Department of Weights & Measures

W = 108.2 cm

H = 24.0 cm

D = 77.80 cm

Weight = 47 Kg x 2.2 = 103.4 Lbs.

The Width is 42.5 Inches BTW for you non-metric types! So, that should work for your console.

Cheers!

No. The power supply is another 25 to 30 pounds by itself.

Cheers!

As it should be! Every time I see an all in one digital unit the size of my foot I want to stomp on it! Big sound goes hand and hand with big heavy gear! hehe.
